Many animal science interns in New Zealand have worked with an organization that rehabilitates and restores habitats for the New Zealand Kaka bird. The research is focused primarily on the birds’ breeding behaviors and physiology.
Interns will be involved in locating the birds using radio telemetry, nest checks, setting up equipment (mostly cameras) to observe the birds, invertebrate sampling, habitat surveys, and on occasion, assisting colleagues with capturing birds and taking samples.
Just like our other locations, we also have the opportunity to coordinate animal science internships outside of the Kaka bird conservation organization. Be part of groundbreaking research opportunities with an animal science internship in New Zealand!
