Housing 2015-06-12T07:28:04+00:00

Your housing is a critical component of your internship experience. On the one hand your living experience is bound to be a little bit different from your living situation you are coming from, and we expect that. In fact, we feel that can be a good thing and only adds to the overall cultural experience you have while living and interning abroad.

However, above all else your basic and safety needs must be met in order for you to thrive in your new environment. At World Internships, we have provided a number of different housing options for you in different countries. Not all three options are available at all locations, so you will need to discuss this with one of our program advisors. Here is an overview of each of the three types of housing that may be available to you:

Apartments

Housing abroad can be a totally different experience than what you are used to in your home country. Interns have the opportunity to live in fully furnished apartments either on their own or with other interns, to get the feel of truly independent living in their new host country. All of our housing is vetted by our experienced and professional onsite staff.

Homestays

Interns staying in homestays get the chance to become integrated in the local culture by living and interacting with locals during the duration of their stay. Homestays always provide 2 meals a day, and a private room for interns. Prior to their arrival they will be given a complete profile of the family they will be staying with, with the option to contact them ahead of time. All homestays have been carefully selected by our experienced onsite team.

Independent Housing (Placement Only)

We want to be as flexible as possible with regard to your housing options, and so in the following countries, WI offers programs without housing: Australia, Canada, Ecuador, England, Italy, Morocco, New Zealand, South Africa, Spain and Vietnam.

If you don’t see your desired destination in this list, please check with one of our placement advisors to see if alternative arrangements can be made.

*It is important to note, that while Independent housing can be a great option for those who want to find their own housing, World Internships can not help you find housing if you select Independent housing. We will want to know that you are staying in a safe and nearby location, but we will leave that entirely up to you to find and secure.
